: Who's to say I can't update twice in one week!
Friday, February 26 2010

No that's actually a question.

This was going to be my next "big piece" as I usually get a new one done each week. I actually did this all in one sitting a few hours after finishing up Cammy. It could definitely be better, but I take this as practice for finishing up more quickly and leaving inaccuracies in on purpose. Gainax would have wanted it this way. I also have a couple more sketches that I could post. Some day maybe...

: I drew a Cammy
Thursday, February 25 2010

Seriously, sometimes I just have nothing when it comes to thinking up a clever title.

I feel like her head may be a little big and the perspective in general may be off, but overall I like how this turned out. I would like to try something rough for my next piece. Whoa just as I typed that, I immediately thought Gurren Lagann. Hmmm...

: the dark forest
Saturday, February 20 2010

Every time I think about drawing Breeze, I figure I should draw her with her brothers, but MAN that takes a while. Looking back at the drawing I did of all three of them, this one is definitely better.

I feel like the lighting on her could be better, but I don't usually draw characters with dark skin and it was a little tough to work out. Also I drew the background after the base colors were down so that was my mistake. Regardless, it was worth the effort as I think this Breeze looks much more like my original vision than ever.

Inspired by an internet video.

Definitely the gayest thing I've ever drawn.

: New logo for the new year
Wednesday, February 3 2010

Technically I spent half of January working on this logo header, but in the gallery it will be listed as February. As usual, Cilvia looks the best. Comparing the logo from last April to this one really shows how my work has changed. Over the course of 2009 I...

-stopped using multiple layers
-stopped using rough black outlines
-started to use a hard brush for better blending and texture
-went back to drawing an outline first
-realized shadows aren't as soft as I thought
-started using hard light layers for shiny and glowing things
-gradually used more varieties of brush opacity, ranging from 1 to 100%

Well that list was more for my sake than anything else. Now for the standard links. The top one is the old logo, the bottom one is the new one at twice the size it is on this page.
